Beta Player Spotlight: Sevker!

This week, the Beta Player Spotlight falls on a gent by the name of Sevker. If you haven’t met Sevker yourself, you have at least seen his work. You see, Sevker is the man behind some of the most dramatic, high quality videos depicting life within The Matrix Online.

His work has been floating around for awhile now, and The Matrix Online team has been mightily impressed. We managed to catch Sevker between video projects, and here’s what he had to say:

Q:

How long have you been beta testing for The Matrix Online?

A:

I got my red pill on August 27th, 2004, and since then have had the ongoing pleasure of being an MxO tester.

Q:

What compelled you to make videos in the first place?

A:

I have always found great cinematic value in the game. Everything from blowing trash to just the way the sun bounces off the buildings.

After the constructs went offline my crew and I had a thought about making a video about Vereor Nos, and its purpose. After many attempts we had something.

Q:

Where can we find the first video you made for The Matrix Online?

A:

“Anti Heroes” can be found at www.radiofreezion.com.

Q:

How many videos have you made, and where can we find them?

A:

You can download or stream the movies at www.radiofreezion.com – a big thanks goes out to Sundog and the RFZ crew for having such a great stage for the many works of this community.

Q:

What resources do you use to make your movies?

A:

On the first project I captured game footage using FRAPS, and I edited with Windows Movie Maker. Windows Movie Maker is completely free and FRAPS has a demo available for those who are interested in creating their very own video. However on the latest project RFZ Video I used Adobe Premiere with FRAPS and Photoshop.

Q:

Any hints and tips for budding directors out there?

A:

I was lucky enough to be surrounded with helpful minds. I truly do not know what kind of project I would’ve created had I not listened to Patche, who acted as an unconnected conscience with shots and mechanics.

Q:

Do you have any special projects in the works right now?

A:

Yes, “RSI.riven”, an ongoing series told from the disgruntled viewpoint of a long time redpill. I would tell you more… Or I could just show you, stay tuned :)

Q:

How does The Matrix Online differ from some of the other MMO titles you've seen?

A:

Well, MMO's for me have been a love/hate relationship. I have loved the depth, the persistent world, the content in many many games. What I hated was how much more fun it was to watch paint dry then it was to pursue combat in those MMO's. The moment my love/hate relationship changed was the first time I entered Interlock. This game is all about the beat–downs—what’s NOT to love?!

Many thanks to Sevker for his contributions to The Matrix Online. Keep those videos coming!
